Biomes, water zones, safe edges, and why the map center is a death sentence for growing dinosaurs.

Map Guide

The Jurassic Pixel map is a single island with distinct biomes, water systems, and terrain that shapes every fight and every growth run. Knowing where to stand, where to drink, and where to avoid determines whether your 30-second DNA tick actually happens. This guide covers the map layout, the safe zones for growing, and the areas that belong to adults only.

Jurassic Pixel launched on 18 March 2025 on Roblox. Servers hold 50 players online. There is no split-screen. The map is the same for every player in every server; there are no procedural variations. What changes is where 50 people decide to stand.

Map overview

The island is roughly divided into three bands: the safe grassy perimeter where babies spawn and grow, the mixed interior with water systems and carcass spawns, and the deep water zones along the edges where large aquatic animals move. The center of the map tends to attract adult combat. The edges tend to be quieter.

Spawn points for both free starters (Gallimimus and Velociraptor) place you near the grassy perimeter. This is intentional. You are meant to find plants or AI meat and grow before moving inland.

Grassland perimeter

The outer ring of the map is grassland with low vegetation, scattered trees, and a gentle slope toward water. This is the safest area for growing because:

  • Plant density is highest here
  • Large carnivores patrol the interior, not the edge
  • You can reach water at the shoreline without crossing contested terrain

The survival guide covers edge-growing in more detail. The short version: stay near the outer ring until age 100, drink on the water lip, and do not follow an adult into the center.

Water systems

Water runs through the map in two forms: shallow shoreline where most animals can drink and move, and deep water zones where Spinosaurus and Deinosuchus have advantages.

Spinosaurus lives in water. Its neck snap execute works on animals in water, and its movement speed in deep water exceeds its land speed. If you are growing as a Spino, the water lanes are not a hiding spot; they are your home territory.

Deinosuchus is the croc that also prefers water. It is a carnivore with a deathroll, 30 armor, and 2,600 HP. It occupies the deep water in a similar role to where Mosasaurus used to sit before that animal was removed.

Mosasaurus was a 10,000 DNA water giant that has been removed from the shop. Do not look for it. Deinosuchus is the current water carnivore.

For land animals, water is a resource to drink from, not a place to fight in. A Triceratops in deep water is a target for a Spino that knows what it is doing. Drink at the shoreline and leave.

Interior and carcass zones

The interior of the map contains:

  • Carcass spawn points where AI or player kills drop meat
  • Mixed terrain with rocks and trees that block line of sight
  • Higher player traffic as adults move between zones

Carving through the interior as a baby is a mistake. The Getting Started guide covers this: grow at the edge first. The interior is where adults fight and where the 50-player KOS culture is most active.

Spawn points and safe growth

Both free starters spawn near the outer ring. Your first 24 minutes (about how long it takes to grow to age 100 on Gallimimus) should happen near that ring. The specific spawn is random within the outer band; do not stress about the exact coordinates.

The How to Grind DNA guide covers private and tiny servers as an alternative to the public 50-player experience. If you are grinding DNA seriously, a private server means your 30-second tick is not interrupted by a random Giganotosaurus that wandered to the edge.

Biome summary

The map does not change between servers. The player behavior does. A quiet public server is close to a private server. A full 50-player public is the highest-risk version of every zone.

FAQ

Where do I spawn on the map? Both free starters (Gallimimus and Velociraptor) spawn in the outer grassland ring. Stay there until age 100.

Is the center of the map worth visiting? Not for growing. The center has carcasses and higher player traffic. For a baby or a growing animal, the center is a death sentence. For an adult, it is where fights happen.

Can I fight in water as any dinosaur? Spinosaurus and Deinosuchus own water. Spino executes in water and moves faster there. Deinosuchus uses its deathroll in water. Land animals should drink at the shoreline and leave.

What happened to Mosasaurus? Mosasaurus was removed from the shop. It used to sit at 10,000 DNA as the water apex. The current water carnivore is Deinosuchus.
