Getting Started in Jurassic Pixel

Jurassic Pixel is a free Roblox dinosaur survival game that released on 18 March 2025. You play online on servers of up to 50 people. There is no local split-screen, so a friend in the same room still needs their own client. Open the Jurassic Pixel experience, wait for the shop and spawn UI, then pick one of the two free animals. Do not spend Robux on a random gamepass until you have survived one adult cycle and read How to Grind DNA. There are no working codes as of September 2026, so the first hour is 100% play, not lobby codes.

Your job in that first hour is boring on purpose: stay alive, eat, drink, and hit age 100. DNA ticks scale with age. A baby that sprints into an adult T-Rex is not practicing PvP. It is deleting a growth bar. Learn buttons from Controls while you hide, then come back to this page for the shop order.

Pick your first dinosaur

Both free starters take about 24 minutes to grow and both list 4 DNA gain when adult. They are not equal at staying alive.

Gallimimus is the default recommendation. It is an omnivore, so plants and meat both count. Stats: 250 HP, 15 damage, 0 armor, run 63, kick plus jump. The speed is the whole animal. You outrun almost everything that wants to eat a baby, you can kick to create space, and you can jump terrain that heavier dinosaurs have to walk around. Plants do not fight back, which matters on a 50-player server full of KOS. If you are playing solo, pick Galli.

Velociraptor is the pack pick. Same 250 HP and 4 DNA, but 45 damage, 15 armor, run 42, and a latch. Latch is a group tool. One raptor on an adult Spinosaurus or Triceratops dies. Four raptors on a distracted adult can delete it. Nublar skins Blue, Delta, Charlie, and Echo are cosmetic; they do not change the 4 DNA tick. Pick raptor only if you have a pack in voice chat and you accept that food is other players and AI meat, not bushes. Read How to Survive before you treat latch as a personality.

If you are on a Chromebook, a prompt asks whether you want extra on-screen buttons. Click No. Clicking Yes hides or breaks the controls you actually need. After that, the mobile-style buttons should appear so you can eat, drink, and use the kick or latch. If nothing shows, rejoin and click No again. That single prompt is the most common “I cannot play” report from Chromebook users.

Eat, drink, and grow to age 100

Growth is a timer you protect, not a combat score. Starters take about 24 minutes if you keep food and water above empty. Hunger and thirst drain while you run. Sprint only to leave a bad spawn or to break line of sight. Walk between plants. Sit in cover when the bar is high enough.

Gallimimus eats plants and meat. Start on plants at the map edge. Do not contest a carcass next to an adult carnivore for a snack that a bush also provides. Velociraptor must hunt. Take babies, isolated AI, or meat that a bigger animal already dropped and left. Latch is for committed pack fights, not for a 1v1 against 2,000 HP.

Drink whenever you pass water. Do not stand in the middle of a lake as a 250 HP animal; drink on the lip and leave. Mobile players can hold eat or drink and drag the finger off the button so the action keeps running. That trick is more useful later as an AFK farmer, but it also stops you from mashing while a Carnotaurus is charging the shoreline.

DNA starts ticking immediately, scaled by age. The useful rule is current DNA per tick is about (age / 100) times the animal’s adult gain. A fresh Galli at age 10 is not earning 4 DNA every 30 seconds. It is earning a sliver. That is why age 100 is the first real goal. Do not reset, do not “test PvP,” and do not follow a random adult inland until that bar is full. If you die while growing, assume the time is gone. The community is not sure adult progress always saves; treat death as costly until you have a second adult sitting in the shop.

HUD bars that matter while you grow: Health, yellow stamina, red bleed. Stamina is the sprint and ability budget. Bleed is the delayed death you get from teeth and claws. Armor 0 on Gallimimus means bleed sticks. If you are red, hide and wait it out instead of sprinting in a straight line. Full keybinds and HUD reading are on the controls page.

Chromebook, HUD, and the DNA shop

Once you are age 100 on Gallimimus, you earn 4 DNA about every 30 seconds. That is slow. It is also safe. Do not buy the first carnivore you see in chat. Open the shop and look at cost versus gain, then check the DNA farm tier list so you are not paying 3,250 DNA for an animal that still only ticks 10.

The first shop animals that actually change your life:

  • 700 DNA: Ceratosaurus or Carnotaurus. Both take about 30 minutes to grow, tick 5 DNA, and can fight. Cera has 110 damage and 20 armor (52 while chuffing). Carno has 125 damage, 5 armor, run 39 with a charge, plus the Novel camo skin. Buy these only if you want a combat route.
  • 1,000 DNA: Parasaurolophus. 1,400 HP, 100 damage, 0 armor, run 39, and a sing that heals other Paras. Group herbivore, not a solo tank.
  • 3,000 DNA: Triceratops is the peaceful DNA step. 2,400 HP, 280 damage, 30 armor, run 25, charge, and it answers Therizinosaurus. 10 DNA gain, 60 minutes to grow.
  • 3,250 DNA: Spinosaurus before T-Rex if you want a fighter. Spino has 2,200 HP, 270 damage, 25 armor, run 33, semi-aquatic play, and a neck snap execute under 400 HP. T-Rex has 2,000 HP, 360 damage, 10 armor, run 35, and a slam. Same 10 DNA. Spino is the better all-rounder.

Skip limiteds until you have a farming main. Indominus last listed at 300,000 DNA and is often offsale. Mosasaurus was removed; it used to cost 10,000 DNA. Do not save for a removed animal.

What to unlock next

After the first adult Galli, pick a path and stay on it. Peaceful: keep farming on Galli until 3,000 for Triceratops, then 7,000 for Brachiosaurus (8,100 HP, 20 DNA, 120 minutes). Combat: 700 for Carno or Cera, 3,250 for Spino, then still buy Brachio because 20 gain beats every fighter. The math, gamepass stacking, and peak 50 DNA ticks are on How to Grind DNA. Use the DNA calculator if you want a clock for the next purchase.

Learn the loop on How to Play before you take a 700 DNA carnivore into the middle of the map. Public servers KOS babies. Hide at the edge, drink on the lip, and treat every unknown adult as hungry. If you want a pack instead of a farm, spawn raptor with friends and read How to Survive so latch is a plan, not a suicide emote.

Patch notes, restocks, and skins land under updates. Confirm shop windows in the official Discord. Play the game, grow one adult, then spend DNA on a route instead of a screenshot.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Should I start as Gallimimus or Velociraptor?

Solo players should start as Gallimimus. It is an omnivore with run 63 and plants for food. Velociraptor is the pack fighter with latch. Details and the first shop order are in this guide; survival habits are in How to Survive.

Why do my Chromebook buttons not show?

Click No on the extra-button prompt, then rejoin if the UI is still empty. Full device notes live on Controls, including mobile auto-drink and laptop swim-up.

When do I start earning full DNA?

Ticks scale with age. You want age 100 before the listed gain matters. Adult Galli is 4 DNA about every 30 seconds. Routes and gamepass math are on How to Grind DNA and the DNA calculator.

Are there codes that skip the first grind?

No. There are no active promo codes as of September 2026. Check codes and how to redeem only when a real code is posted.
